Bathroom Shutters

Waterproof, wooden and a delight!

Shutters for Victorian style bathroom windows are a fantastic idea. Many companies bring in ranges of waterproof shutters specifically for wet rooms, but our range of beautifully designed contemporary shutters are manufactured in woods, either poplar or elm, and are still suitable for bathrooms.

When architects are planning homes its considered very passé to have frosted decorated glass or textured obscured glass, so incorporating a decorative yet functional window covering into the design of the bathroom is a fabulous solution. Window shutters are definitely an excellent solution for the bathroom of any Victorian home.  Although traditionally Victorian shutters were the solid style, plantation shutters with their rotating slats have become a must have in Victorian homes.

Bathroom shutters tick all boxes; they offer a screen at the window for privacy, they are designed to let light in or block it out and can create different atmospheres in the bathroom, they are practical in their design in that they take up little space, and they are very efficient in letting a breeze circulate the room from an open window.

Victorian Bathrooms Suited to Wooden Shutters

These Vicorian styled bathroom shutters in the range have different sized slats. Larger, wider shutter slats like the ones featured let lots of light in to create a beautiful airy space. The wooden shutters, although not waterproof, are suitable as a bathroom shutter with water resist qualities.

The colour chosen on this bathroom shutter matches the dark panelling. The Victorian shutters have a beautiful high gloss finish in keeping with the high gloss flooring. Although the shutter in this bathroom are finished in a jet black, the high gloss finish of the shutter slats reflect the sunlight directly into the room, so the bathroom shutters help with creating a bright and contemporary bathroom.

The bathroom shutters shown here have gained further functionality in that they have a midrail inserted half way up the window. The slats in the bathroom shutter panels above the midrail open independently from the shutter slats below the midrail. This means that the light can be angled in many directions, or alternatively the bottom slats can be closed completely for ultimate privacy and the top shutter slats can be kept wide open to let lots of light pour in.

Shutters needn’t be waterproof, and in the bathroom, Victorian style shutters are a brilliant way to dress the window without having to resort to obscured glass.
