It is a known fact that shutters look divine in any lounge. Lounge shutters lift the room. The shutters look contemporary and add a modern twist to any lounge. All of the shutters designed by Kelly Hoppen herself are manufactured from either poplar wood or elm wood. Both of these woods are hard woods and are excellent for use as wooden shutter blinds; shutters need to be manufactured in a wood which is strong yet light enough to be suitable for fixing to a window or window surround and we only use wood which is perfect for this purpose.
MDF or LDF is too heavy a material for use as wood shutters. MDF and LDF are essentially wood dust mixed with an adhesive. This means that the material is actually quite unstable, particularly for use as a window treatment. Windows are subjected to often extreme temperatures which MDF and LDF are just not able to withstand; the cold of winter, with condensation running down window panes which can affect the glue and cause the paint finish to bubble, the “wood” to expand and the shutters to not work properly, not to mention the heat of summer, intensified by the glazing!
All of our beautiful paints and rich sumptuous stains are only applied to Poplar wood or Elm wooden shutter blinds, Not only do these woods enhance the appearance of the paint or stain on the wooden shutter blinds, but the finishes on the shutters are kiln dried and have a UV protective coating mixed in to it so they will not warp or discolour, even in the hot summer sun.
The wooden shutter blinds installed in this lounge are a gorgeous paint colour, they are finished in Linen which is a very close match to the beautiful taupe colour of the sofa and the natural finishes of the rest of the décor. The brushed steel hinges mirror the colour of the railings and the whole look of the lounge shutters ties in with the rest of the lounge.
