“My designs embody concepts from all over the world. It’s natural, therefore, for me to use objects - furniture, fabrics and flooring for example – that are sourced from all over the world.
When designing my own range of wood shutters, I was mindful that not only must the materials used be perfect for their required purpose, but their sourcing must cause as little negative impact on the environment as possible.
For this reason, my shutters had to be made using top quality hard wood. Crucially, I wanted the shutters to be made from FSC certified wood. This means the wood has been grown and harvested and forests managed in an ethical, professional way. Land from which trees have been felled to make our shutters is overseen by the Forest Stewardship Council, who ensure that there is no illegal deforestation or wood harvesting. The “Pure Simplicity” concept I’ve adopted not only relates to the design principles I’ve applied to my shutters , but to ‘keeping things clean regards our green business credentials”
